  1. Thank you for writing this article. I am a guitarist (non-professional), 53 years of age, and I have come down with what I believe is the first signs of FPD in my fretting hand. My ring finger wants to curl in, and when it does, it *locks in*, and takes greater conscious effort to *pop* it back up. While not a professional, I am a serious musician and NEED to play to feel alive… I’ve been playing for 40 years now and is as much a part of me as breathing.

    This article was written in 2010… I was curious to see if you are still able to play and perform now that it’s six years on. I’m planning to schedule an appointment with a neurologist next week to get an official diagnosis.

  3. Hello Mark,
    Could you help me with Torroba’s Sonatina? There are several issues, but the major problem is is the tuning of the 6th string in the 3rd movement. There are some low Ds which would require keeping the 6th tuned down to D having retuned for the second movement. But there are also some low Es which would seem to require the 6th string turned to E because the rest of the chord calls for a high position (e.g. bars 22 and 23). I’m using a Ricordi edition fingered by Segovia. Later editions I’ve seen seem to be unmodified copies of this. Is there a clearer, more reliable edition available?
